There are many different ways to view the human body, but for this entry I decided to simply focus on girls in the United States as opposed to individuals from foreign countries.
I feel as if low self-esteem is becoming more and more of a problem for young girls in the States as the years go on. It's being seen now in girls as young as 7-years-old. It isn't something that's going to simply disappear as they get older.
I've even read stories over the last couple years of cosmetic surgery for those that are 18 and under! It's sad that these people feel so ugly that they feel they need to go under the knife to "fix" something that doesn't really need fixing in the first place. That she's so unhappy she feels she needs this to somehow make her happier with herself.
I know that I feel unhappy about myself sometimes, but not enough that I'd have surgery to try to "fix" my body. All I want is to be able to wake up and feel like this again:
It's also important to note that this self-consciousness is not just prevalent in women, but men can have low self-esteem, too. They either just don't let it effect them as negatively as most women do, or they bury it down deep so no one can see it.
